Time really flies! We've (Lynn & Theo Uho) already been here for over 1 month (yes we're really sorry for our late post!!)
To start with our journey, door to door (from Stockholm C to the hotel in Abingdon), took us about 12h and we started at 3-4 o'clock in the morning so we were exhausted at the end of the day. But they were nice and let us have the arriving day to have a look around the area plus we got a lie-in the following day.
Whilst it was snowing in Sweden when leaving, it was surprisingly super warm and sunny when landing in England! And it continued to be like that up until one or two weeks ago. It's been quite mixed weather lately so England is living up to its reputation now.
Alot of things are quite different to how things work at the hotels that me and Theo works at in Sweden but it's very interesting to see how they do it here. And we're learning heaps of thing, not to mention the actual language! There's alot of expressions that we're not really familiar with but we've started to cotton on, althought we tend to speak Swenglish sometimes...
The guests that stays at the hotel are mostly business guests so there's always conferences going on but there's also other events taking place, such as dinner partys and weddings. There's weddings almost every week so we get to help out abit with that. As it's a quite small hotel we get to do and help out with different things. We mainly do breakfast, waitressing, reception and booking.
Something else, part from the weather, that England is well known for is the food (though I'm not sure either one of them are contributing much to what attracts tourists to England)...
We miss some things from Sweden, part from our family and friends, we miss such things as certain sweets, cheese, filmjölk, knäckebröd etc. But I'm sure we'll miss the English food when we get back to Sweden. We noticed they've got some really different things over here, we'll post a photo to show you an example of that..
